Since you are memorizing a new piece, you will not have the benefit of being able to use a recording to play along with to help you memorize. Still, I think that memorizing as soon as you receive the music is wise. Then once it's memorized, always practice from memory. Classical musicians usually insist on practicing while looking at the music, so this is different. I will be looking forward to hearing how this works for you.

BetsyB.S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08724883690591213622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4115433326707838301.post-11863273484333216492015-01-06T10:52:03.693-08:002015-01-06T10:52:03.693-08:00Thank you very much for your kind reply.

Thank you very much again, and I hope that 2015 will be a full of joy and happiness year to you.Leandronoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4115433326707838301.post-54925109441500583362015-01-06T08:46:28.120-08:002015-01-06T08:46:28.120-08:00Leandro, the method I used which is new to me is t...Leandro, the method I used which is new to me is that I memorized first, before working on the music, as soon as the music arrived in the mail. I started at the beginning, as most musicians would, and memorized a section at a time, not moving forward until the section I was memorizing was secure. The reason this is different from the way I used to memorize is because now, the memorizing happens first. I also listened to recordings while I was memorizing, which surely helped. If you have a good memory, then this will be relatively easy for you. Just don't move on to the next section of music until you are sure that the section you're memorizing is truly committed to memory. I became frustrated midway through and almost gave up, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It took a few weeks to memorize, and then I had several months of practicing from memory before the performances. That made a huge difference.

Good luck to you!
BetsyB.S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08724883690591213622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4115433326707838301.post-54985412331629987742015-01-06T08:34:18.787-08:002015-01-06T08:34:18.787-08:00Can you please tell us about your new memorizing m...Can you please tell us about your new memorizing method?
